Don McKenney – Mill Valley Lumber Co. and South Pacific Coast
Description
I have two on3 layouts. The Mill Valley Lumber co is a freelance lumber operation set somewhere in Northern California in the late 19th century. Link and pin, geared engines and an 8 ton Porter, deadrai, rc battery tsunami power/control. Trains run from the mill to the woods, empties up and loads down. The layout is located in a spare bedroom and runs around the walls with a short peninsula. Aisle space is limited.
My South Pacific Coast layout is located in a stand-alone L shaped studio in the backyard.
It depicts a freelance plan but all cars and most structures are based on Carter Brothers designs and all are scratch built. The layout includes a mining branch, The Lost Hills Mining Co. Track and turnouts are hand laid. Some structures are still to be built and no ground cover etc. yet. Locomotives are brass imports modified to represent types used on the SPC. deadrail, rc, battery, tsunami power/control.
